The 2017 BSE Society’s Award was for the makeover of Troy group's office on St Johns St. The Society considered that the building’s sympathetic and skilful refurbishment had significantly enhanced the street scene adjoining the Conservation Area and the town’s historic core.
Following a lengthy planning permissions process, May 2016 saw Troy group expand into new premises three times bigger than their previous HQ. At the time, the building was a run-down warehouse but once change of use was secured, Troy group gutted the entire building and transformed it into the modern office space you see today.
The ground floor consists of a reception area and meeting room space partitioned off with wrought iron sliding doors with feature panel walls and exposed brickwork; a subtle nod to its industrial past. The rest of the build and interior design has been meticulously thought out by the Troy team, from the marble flooring, copper piping, vintage metal bar stools in the kitchen to a variety of lighting designs. The result isn’t your average corporate workspace atmosphere.
A feature staircase invites you up into the open plan first floor office which also boasts the same bespoke heritage windows on the ground floor to maximise natural light into the office. Brand new wood flooring has been laid, now adorned with patterned floor runners with traditional black and white designed tiles in the kitchen. The refurbishment even won the Bury Society Architectural Award!
