December Newsletter

Having successfully navigated a busy summer of student accommodation refurbishment projects (which you can read about here), we ‘d like to congratulate Philip Hillman, Chairman, Student Housing & Higher Education, JLL on winning Personality of the Year accolade at The Student Accommodation Awards (organised by Property Week which took place last Wednesday, 12th December). Philip was a keynote speaker at our ‘Power of the Student’ roundtable event this summer – you can recap the discussions here.

The last couple months have seen us deliver on a number of key hotel refurbishment milestones.

We successfully handed over the last Travelodge Super Room site, Winnersh Triangle in Reading earlier this month which marked the completion of the continuous improvements programme for this year.

We placed 71 in this years Suffolk Top 100 companies which was announced in November 2018 at the awards ceremony at Wherstead Park, Ipswich.

Suffolk 100 brochure

Suffolk Limited’s top 100, now in its 17th year, is a study which reveals the true state of the Suffolk business landscape. This year, undertaken by Birketts and Grant Thorntons, the report saw a new front runner in 5 years; Turners of Soham. Birketts’ chief executive, Jonathan Agar, commented:

“Between Bury St Edmunds and Felixstowe, there are six million square feet of new distribution centres either in construction or in the pipeline to be constructed, which is a reflection of having to have distribution centres near to ports and markets. [source: East Anglian Daily Times]

Warren Troy, MD for TROY group attended the awards ceremony and said: “we made the Top 100 in 2016 but missed out last year, so to be recognised in this year’s cohort is great news for us.  We’ve had an exceptional year of trading and the volume of construction companies named in the rankings echoes the construction sector growth this past year.”
